The Birch Cliff area began to be developed in 1895, when the Toronto Hunt Club relocated here. Fox Hunts were held at this club up until the 1930's, when golf became the membership's preferred activity. In the late 1890's and early 1900's many Toronto residents built summer cottages on the property adjacent to the Toronto hunt Club. These cottagers were attracted to the area by the magnificent Scarborough Bluffs.

Birch Cliff is an established, family oriented neighbourhood set amidst the backdrop of the Scarborough Bluffs and Lake Ontario. Drawing attention away from the lake is Kingston Road, a major thoroughfare that arches it's way through the centre of this neighbourhood.
Two distinct residential pockets within the greater Birch Cliff area include the exclusive "Fallingbrook" community, located west of the Toronto Hunt Club to the south of Kingston Road, and the "Birch Cliff Heights" community, situated on the north side of Kingston Road, between Birchmount and Kennedy Road.

Birch Cliff contains an excellent selection of bungalows, storey-and-a-half houses and detached, two-storey homes that feature Tudor, Edwardian and Cape Cod designs. This neighbourhood's original housing dates from the 1910's all the way up to the 1950's. Birch Cliff also contains a fairly large number of modern homes that have been built in the 1980's and 1990's.
The highly sought after "Fallingbrook" district is known for its lavish topography and splendid manor houses that overlook Lake Ontario. Fallingbrook also contains a large number of houses that back onto the picturesque grounds of the Toronto Hunt Club.

The Birchmount Park Community Centre, Stadium, Leisure Pool and arena located at Kingston and Birchmount Roads, is one of Toronto's largest multi-purpose recreational facilities which also contains baseball diamonds and sports fields. The Scarborough Arena Gardens indoor ice arena situated adjacent to Birchmount Stadium is the home of the Scarborough Wexford Raiders. Jr. "A" Hockey Club.
The Birchmount Community Centre is located across from the arena. This centre offers a full range of adult, seniors' and children's programming. This modern community centre also features a large indoor pool that is used for recreational swims and lessons.

    Cliffside Area

Cliffside is a neighbourhood in Toronto, Ontario located along the Scarborough Bluffs in the district of Scarborough. Its boundaries are Kennedy Road to the west (where Kingston and Danforth Road merge), St. Clair Avenue East to the north, Brimley Road to the east, and the Bluffs on the lakeshore to the south. Modern large scale suburban housing subdivision in the area started in the early 1950s post–World War II period with the baby boom and the subdividing of farmland. The area south of Kingston Road was previously a golf course. Some homes were built prior to this period with the development of Birch Cliff to the west.

The population consists of a large number of those with ancestral backgrounds from the British Isles: English 19.8% Scottish 14.4% Irish 11.8%, totalling 46% (source: 2001 Census).

Cliffside was formerly known as Mortlake, in reference to an English hamlet outside London. The Mortlake name came into use with the opening of a post office in the Halfway House Hotel, which was situated on Kingston Road. This hotel was moved in 1962, and now assumes a prominent role in Toronto's historic Black Creek Pioneer Village, located at 1000 Murray Ross Parkway.

An enduring Cliffside landmark is the St. Augustine Seminary, which opened in 1910. St. Augustine was the first Canadian seminary for the training of English speaking clergy. This large edifice, with its Beaux Arts style architecture and soaring dome, is a powerful visual landmark on Kingston Road.

In the early 1900's, the land west of the St. Augustine Seminary began to evolve as a summer cottage community. The first year round residences were built in the 1920's at the south end of Chine Drive. These charming Arts and Crafts style houses set the tone for the present day neighbourhood.

I want to thank Alex for selling our home so quickly and over list price. Alex is all business and very thorough. You can trust Alex. His marketing skills are incredible. He brilliantly planted the sign on our lawn before the listing became active. This made local residents aware that our home was available and generated even more activity. His staff are equally professional. I am recommending Alex to friends and family.

    Hi Alex,

It was a real pleasure to work with you on this. As you can imagine after so long in the house and the parents finally making a decision to sell, it became a very anxious time for them as well as for us. However, you were very helpful, responsive, always kept us posted and helped to answer any questions we had. We were also very impressed that you had a strategy all figured out in which to sell the home. Thank you so much for all your help with this Alex. It has been a little over a week since we initially contacted you and I speak for all of us when I say that you have reaffirmed that we made the right decision to contact you and not someone else. Thank You!

Thank you Alex for your efforts in the recent sale of our home. You met and exceeded our wishes by selling it quickly and for above-list price. When you told us most of your listings sell in 10 days we never dreamt that would be the case - but it was! Your tech savy presentation, marketing plan and follow through were remarkable and your referrals for floor refinishers, cleaning and lawyers were much appreciated and made this process easier. Our sincere thanks to you and your team!
