Yesterday, during Small Business Week, the Honourable Mary Ng, Minister of Small Business, Export Promotion and International Trade, announced an investment of $12 million to support the Canada United Small Business Relief Fund. Created and launched by RBC, Canada United is a national movement to support local businesses in communities across the country.
Through the Canada United Small Business Relief Fund, grants up to $5,000 are available to small businesses so they can cover the costs of physical modifications to their businesses to meet local health and safety requirements. The grant can also be used to help firms with the cost of Personal Protection Equipment and enhance their e-commerce capabilities so they conduct more business online. Eligible Applicants
- Small- to medium-sized (SME) companies from all sectors and all regions of Canada;
- Be incorporated, or operating as a sole proprietor/partnership, in Canada as of March 1, 2020;
- No more than 75 employees;
- Have minimum annual sales of $150,000 and not more than $3,000,000;
- One application per ownership group;
- Applicants do not need to be a member of the Ontario Chamber of Commerce (OCC) to qualify;
- Both For-Profit and Not-For-Profit organizations are eligible to apply, except government organizations, municipalities, charities and the chamber of commerce network.
